Sports Day 2013- 2nd July

Sports Day 2013
One of the highlights of the school calendar took place today (2nd July) CHS' sports day.

The first part of the morning saw the field events take place. These included shot put, javelin, discus, long jump, triple jump and high jump. These events were very successful and school records were broken in some of them.

After the conclusion of the field events, the whole school made their way out onto the field to support their friends in the track events and not even the rain could dampen their spirit! Although the conditions may not have been the best some of the athletes performed exceptionally well and a few school records were broken including the 200m.

Brian Barton (year 10), who in recent years has made the 100m his own set himself a new challenge this year of competing in the 200m. Barton didn’t only win the 200m but he did it in fashion, breaking former student and now Liverpool FC striker Daniel Sturridge’s record over this distance. His celebration matched his performance, when he pulled Usain Bolt’s famous winning pose for the cameras!
