CHS
win their own version of the Ashes!
A
CHS cricket team recently beat a school touring side from Australia in a match
arranged through our tour provider Tours 4 Sport. The game was hastily
arranged after the side from Haileybury College, Melbourne, had a fixture
cancelled at short notice. The tour company contacted CHS, who were happy
to oblige by putting together a select XI team made up of current Year 12s,
Year 11s that are returning in September and some recently departed year
13s. The CHS team put in a great performance in the emphatic win, with
BTEC sport student, Nick Atkinson, scoring 67 off 63 balls and taking 3 wickets
to gain him recognition as ‘Man of the Match.’ (England could have done with Nick today in their first test match!)
Mr
Cross, Deputy Curriculum Team Leader for PE said “Our appreciation and thanks goes to Peover Cricket Club for hosting
the game at short notice and to Mr Naylor for taking the team. We
extended a warm welcome to our visitors and hope to stay in contact with them
in the future.”
