YEAR 9 INDOOR ROWING- 26th February

Indoor Rowing Success

Students from Congleton, Sandbach, Middlwich and Alsager High School
in action in the SSP Rowing Competition.
CHS’ PE department have gradually been broadening and extending the number of sports in which students can participate. One sport which has been made available for students to try is indoor rowing.
Last year CHS took three of its indoor rowing teams to Chester University to take part in the Level 3 School Games competition, with Hollie Massey winning gold and Johnny Adderely winning bronze. In the team events, the year 9 girls finished in 4th place, year 9 boys in 2nd and the year 10 boys in 3rd.

Tonight the year 9 girls and boys teams qualified for this year’s level 3 school games after great performances in the Sandbach School Partnership round. The teams beat teams from Sandbach, Middlewich and Alsager.
During lunchtimes students have been battling it out in a “row off” to qualify for spots on the team. The picture below shows year 9 students, George and Hugh going head-to-head for the final spot in the boys’ team.

SKI TRIP 2015

Ski Trip 2015

Over 30 eager students travelled to the stunning resort of Le Corbier in the French Alps for the much-anticipated annual Ski Training Course this week. Students (and staff) were excited to hit the slopes for six days of skiing, with the aim of the trip to allow students to improve their skiing ability in one of the best resorts in France.
It was a year this week that the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi got underway, which saw Great Britain record their best display at a Winter Olympics for nearly ninety years. CHS decided to hold their very own Olympic Super-G competition.

It was then the turn of a head-to-head race with a 1v1 slalom. Elliott Darmon can be seen here winning his heat whilst Ted Hubbard crashes out spectacularly!
Mr Naylor will be hoping to defend his Super-G title at next year’s ski trip.

You can see more photos from the trip on CHS’ PE department’s twitter account.
