Football Season Review

The stand out performance has to be from the team of the year, the victorious under 13 girls. On May 9th the under 13 girls represented Stoke City at the Premier League Schools’ Tournament at Anfield. The pressure the girls had to deal with playing at a premier league ground was huge but the girls thrived under it. The girls’ qualified through the group stage undefeated and only QPR stood in CHS’ way of reaching the final. CHS progressed to the final thanks to an extra-time winner from captain Hollie Massey. The final was against Aston Villa and CHS became Premier League Champions when Massey scored a header from Bennet’s clearance. The trophy, presented by the Chairman of The Premier League Sir Dave Richards, accompanied by Liverpool FC players Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva, is now displayed proudly at school.

There was more success for CHS’ footballers, with years 7, 9 and 10 boys winning their South Cheshire Leagues, which was down to their strong performances as well as battling on whatever the British weather threw at them, which some schools’ didn’t do which meant that CHS claimed even more silverware. But, the silverware in football didn’t stop there, as the year 10 boys won the South Cheshire Cup, 3-2, after a nail-biting final against Kingsgrove. The under 14-girls, which were made up of most of the team who are National Champions, also won their South Cheshire League and the Cheshire School Games.
